invisalignwhat is invisalign?

Invisalign is the invisible way to straighten your teeth using a series of custom-made, nearly undetectable aligners. And it's been proven effective in both clinical research and in practices nationwide. So whether your teeth are crowded, too far apart or have shifted since wearing braces, you'll have a new reason to smile.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Once Dr. Lynskey has determined that you are an Invisalign candidate, she will write a treatment plan and take an impression of your teeth, which are sent to Invisalign. Using the latest 3-D computer technology, Invisalign translates Dr. Lynskey's instructions into a series of precisely customized aligners. Each set of aligners are then worn for about two weeks, moving your teeth gradually, until you've achieved the desired result. Generally, treatment takes about the same time as conventional braces, and your visits are shorter and no more frequent.

Why Select Dr Lynskey for your Invisalign Treatment?

Dr Lynskey has been an Invisalign provider since 1999, a Premier Provider since 2004 and is the largest provider for Invisalign in Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino Counties.  She has planned hundreds of cases and completed over 400 Invisalign patients.  With her experience it was only fitting that she be offered the position as Course Director for the Invisalign cirriculum at the University of California, San Francisco.  It was because of her experience and excellence that she was also selected as one of only 100 worldwide Invisalign providers to test the recently-launched Invisalign Teen product.  So if you are looking for the best treatment, utilizing the best esthetics, Invisalign and Dr Lynskey are your only option!

Benefits to Invisalign vs. Braces

Because there are no wires or braces, Invisalign is comfortable and easy to wear. They are removable, making eating, brushing and flossing easier than with braces. In fact, your lifestyle will change very little while gaining your beautiful new smile. There is a small adjustment initially with regards to speech. Patients have observed a slight lisp the first few days of treatment while their tongue adjusts to the aligners.

In Her Own Words:

Recently Dr Lynskey was interviewed regarding her experience with Invisalign.  here are some of the questions brought up in the interview:

Why is Invisalign continuing education so important?

"Invisalign seems to be updating its techniques on what seems like a monthly basis. These workshops keep me current with the most recent innovations of this cutting-edge technology, increasing the awareness of Invisalign with my referring doctors and my patients. There are a lot of myths about Invisalign and its effectiveness. My patients deserve to know the latest information to dispel these myths."

How has Invisalign changed since you started treating patients with it?

"When I first began using Invisalign, it was indicated for very mild cases of crowding or spacing, including orthodontic relapse cases. Now I have extraction cases involving more than one tooth. I am also able to correct jaw and bite problems that would've required much more invasive treatment modalities, such as headgear. I'm also using adjuncts to the Invisalign system to enhance its effectiveness. I'm aligning teeth and bites just as well as with conventional braces, but without the braces and wires."

If it works so well, why all the myths and controversy about its effectiveness?

"It's like anything else. I recently took up golf. The first few times I went to the range I was lucky to hit the ball. So, I got some guidance, and took a few lessons from a golf pro. I started with the easier clubs (irons) and worked my way up to the putter, wedge and finally, the driver. Now I'm hitting consistently and with distance. It's the same with Invisalign. Many practitioners try one or two cases and the results were just OK, not great. OK is not good enough, so they get disillusioned. Experience and continuing education are the two key ingredients in making Invisalign work effectively. Education as to new techniques and procedures, as well as, case selection and "pearls of wisdom" from Invisalign experts. Invisalign has changed and I am pleased to be able to offer my experience with this wonderful technology to my patients."
